Many people are unaware that their emotions can be influenced by colors. Color psychology, as defined as the study of hues as a determinant of human behavior, has the ability to alter perceptions. It can also affect mood and perspective regarding different scenarios.

For this reason, color psychology is utilized by most businesses to influence the mood of their potential customers. Designers have capitalized on color psychology to effectively convey messages and trigger actions. For instance, a blue room can calm and relax clients, so that they would be more amiable to purchasing more items.

Of course, a color’s meaning depends upon your perception. For instance, some consider the color red as the color of love and intimacy, while others think of anger and courage when considering red. In some cultures, people wear red during birthdays, while others wear red for weddings and other festive occasions.

There is also the undeniable fact that some would think favorably of a color simply because it is their favorite. Some people do not like the color orange because it can symbolize cowardice and impatience. Meanwhile, other people love the color orange because it can also symbolize warmth and balance.

It therefore goes without saying that the meaning of colors is a study in duality: it can have both positive and negative connotations, depending on the medium through which the message is conveyed. It can also be used to suggest emotions and trigger a person’s vulnerability, if harnessed properly.

That being said, you would do well to understand the different symbolisms each color represents so that you would be able to use them to their maximum potential. You can use these colors to send a strong message to competitors or to influence behavior among your employees.

Here are some strong colors you can choose for your next event or campaign:

    Yellow – Yellow is universally known as a joyful, vibrant color that triggers happiness, optimism, and hope. By using this as your key messaging, you can exude a sense of idealism and cheerfulness among your employees. However, some people view yellow as the color of betrayal and jealousy. As such, try to liven up your design with even more cheerful icons, just so there would be no mistake about the message you are trying to convey.

    Blue – The color blue is a staple among most establishments as it gives people a sense of unity and security. Also reminiscent of the sky, the color blue an also denote confidence and stability. However, it can also be used to describe depression, as is the definition of the word “blue.”
    Black – Many would argue that black is not a color per se, but this hue has the ability to exude formality and elegance, if properly harnessed. It is also used to display power and wealth, as is evident in the dress code of opulent parties. However, the color black can also carry the negative messaging of grief and sadness.

At the end of the day, the colors you choose to represent your company are going to be major features of your business, as you would be frequently using it in almost all of your collaterals. Ensure that you choose a color that you feel would best benefit you.
